Welcome to the Congregational Bible Church of Shafter!

We hope that you browse around and get a glimpse of who we are and what we do.

However, at this time, the web site is like all Christians, not complete! So please be patient as we are under construction. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us.

Vision Statement

The purpose of the Congregational Bible Church is to help people grow spiritually so that they impact others for Christ.

History of the Congregational Church of Shafter

The Congregational Church began as a Sunday School on March 7, 1915. The Reverend J. J. Chambers, a former Lutheran pastor of Alpaugh, was invited to preach.

According to records, this was the first English service held in Shafter (others were in German).

During the summer of 1915, the meetings were held in the first schoolhouse that was located on James Street. On October 17, 1915, the meeting was held in an unfinished room of the new schoolhouse being constructed on Santa Fe.
